Op plus 12

Beginning to feel a new sense of excitement about the new life I have been given.

Unless you've been through it - its a very different thing to understand - the energy draining and real effect on mental health generally of bilateral dysplasia and the associated pain.....but now a new full live with all sorts of things to share with my family.

As for the recovery process - I still aim to lose the crutches at week 3 - another week and a bit

The problem now is that Im iching to go - but the "other" legs is now the big issue.  Arthritic pain all over again - ot the extent that I am not really noticing the opperated on.  Resurting to crutches again due to pain and pills.  I guess just a pain management exercise till August and the next one !

Have been walking unassisted for the last 4days - but slow due to pain in my unoperated leg.
The last few days been cutting our hedges which mean climbing ladder and walking on a plank and using hand tools.
Drive a couple of times this week.

Surgeon appt next Monday and hope to get back onto my bike to start training again.
Have riden but very short with no resistance to see what position the legs are in - all good.

A bit of a set back.
Ive bought hiking sticks to help with walking but havent really used them yet

At last sleeping on the side on my treated leg.

2wks plus 2days

Walked 1000m - took it reakl slow and it definately worked the leg. It feels like the operated one is a little shorter than then perhaps 5-10mm - when i see the surgeon Ill find out.

Sleeping without the burning /lactate buildup feeling.
The only thing about the walk is the pain from the other legs - the still arthritic one
The left one had now become the worst !yee haa

2 wks plus 1 day

Finally a good nights sleep without the "fatigue" pain in my thigh.
All good
Walked , with crutches 630m
Time to set some walking goals I guess and also for the return to my bike - may wait until after seeing the surgeon and might get a inside one.
Part of the reason for setting this upis that its differcult finding recovery info on the net and dont know what to expect without pushing myself too far.

2 weeks from surgery

Decided to record this for the next round ie. the other hip.  Im 54 yr of age living in New Zealand and have had bilateral arthritis -had the first one done on 9th April - spent 3 nights in hospital and then home.  The surgery was great - no drain or cathater or sticthes and have very little brusing at all.
Im walking with aid of cructhes and doing all physio exercises.  I can walk a short distance without crutches but am not wanting to push as my aim is for a complete and successful recovery so that I can get on my bike and tune my body up for the next one - which Im planning for August.  So that is 3 months away.

A bit sore in my outer leg - feels like a build up of lactic acid - but everything else is just fine.
I look forward to being able to walk - as towards the end of the thing it was not very pretty and no good be crumpy all the time.  Immediately since surgery I have had a far more positive attitude!!

Walked 450m with the add of crutches in the morning
